Professor Ashraf Shoma, MBBCH, MSc, MD, FRCS
Professor Ashraf Shoma is the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Mansoura University Egypt. He has a Master and MD degree of General Surgery from Mansoura University and he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Prof. Shoma is honorary Professor with the University of Manchester (since 2023). He is a Prof. of Surgery since 2011 and Consultant Breast Surgery since 2000. He introduced new techniques of breast surgical practice, supervised 44 PhD and master's degree theses and he is the author of 74 published international articles basically in the field of Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.
He was Director of the Mansoura-Manchester Program for Medical Education from 2019 – 2022, and prior to this was Phase 3 lead for 6 years. He has a clinical working experience in JWG Frankfurt University Hospital, Sunnybrook Cancer Research Center in Toronto University and International Medical University in Malaysia. He has led Mansoura Faculty of Medicine to be the top ranked medical school in Egypt in the Shanghai Ranking and the faculty in Egypt with the most citations (Scopus, 2022). In his leadership of Mansoura Faculty of Medicine, he oversees the conventional programme (8244 students), the Mansoura Manchester Medical Education Programme (1968 students), 78 post graduate degrees (3172 students), nine academic departments and 28 clinical departments. Mansoura Faculty of Medicine has more than 2000 academic/clinical staff members and 14 Specialised University Hospitals. Fifty-five cohorts of his conventional program medical graduates and 13 cohorts of his MMMEP graduates are offering medical services in every Middle East, African, as well as European and north American country.
