Department activities

I. Education:

Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology department teaches medical students in the credit hour and Manchester undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Medicine in addition to postgraduate students.
a) The credit hour program:
1. Fourth semester: Professional Ethics course.
2. Fifth semester: Forensic medicine and clinical toxicology course.
3. Sixth semester: Forensic medical aspects of pregnancy and abortion (obstetrics and gynecology course).
4. The ninth semester: Forensic medical aspects of domestic violence (family medicine course).
5. Several elective courses.
b) Manchester program:
1. Fourth and fifth semester: Professional Ethics course.
2. The twelfth semester: Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology course.
c) Postgraduate studies:
1. Master Degree of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology.
2. Ph.D. in Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology.
3. The course of forensic medicine and clinical toxicology for the master's degree in Emergency.
4. Professional diplomas: Crime Scene, Forensic Medical Chemistry and Analysis.

There are many distinguished scientific halls equipped with the latest technologies for teaching, the Forensic Medicine Museum, and the Department’s Library, which contains a distinguished collection of discreet medical books and references, research and scientific theses, and is equipped with many modern computers and a large display screen. Training for introduction of the gastric tube skill is performed in the faculty’s Skills Laboratory.

II. Scientific activity:


a) Publication of “Mansoura Journal of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology” since 1993.
b) Several research projects
c) The annual department conference.
d) Several workshops and training courses in clinical toxicology, forensic analytical chemistry and writing medical reports.
e) Weekly seminar.

III. Community service:


a) Toxicology Unit in the Emergency Hospital and also Toxicology Lab in the Emergency Hospital.
b) Free phone call service on the number "01018484384", to provide support and assistance to doctors and citizens, in cases of poisoning.
c) The Public Service Center for Forensic Medical Consultations and Analysis.
d) Supervising the forensic medical aspect of the “Safe Women Clinic”.
e) The Forensic Medicine Department has the honor of continuous cooperation and coordination with civil society sectors to combat the problem of drug abuse, conduct awareness campaigns, hold educational seminars and workshops, in addition to conducting chemical analyzes to search for narcotic and alcoholic substances and contribute to raising the efficiency and performance of citizens.
