The Pathology Museum
About the Museum
The Pathology Museum was established by the Pathology Department, coinciding with the start of the Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University. The museum is one of the hallmarks of the faculty, as it houses an extensive collection of pathological specimens that covers a comprehensive range of diseases and includes rare specimens of cases documented after death.
Museum Location and Collections
The pathology museum is located on the ground floor of the Faculty of Medicine building behind wings (C) and (D) next to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Museum. It includes a number of display cabinets containing pathological specimens preserved with special techniques. The museum is distinguished by its organization and clarity of display, as there is a code number and a written explanation attached to each sample that includes a description and identification of pathological changes as well as the final diagnosis.
The Educational Role of the Pathology Museum
- The museum plays an educational role as it contributes to the applied study of disease samples associated with the courses, whether for undergraduate or postgraduate students.
- In line with the digitization methodology, an electronic version (Compact Disc) has been prepared containing images of all samples in the museum, with a full explanation of each sample with the final diagnosis.
