The Department of Internal Medicine is historically considered to be the scientific incubator that produced all other non-surgical specialties at the Mansoura College of Medicine. The department was one of the first departments that took upon themselves the educational tasks of all branches of internal medicine (Gastroenterology and hepatology - communicable and endemic diseases - endocrinology and diabetes – Hematology-Neurology –Dermatology – cardiology and Psychatry), In addition to providing the community with the necessary medical service in these specialties, the department is credited with keeping pace with the rapid scientific development in all branches of internal medicine.

Many units are still added to this distinguished series, such as 0 Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit - Liver and Digestive System Unit - Kidney Unit - Critical Care Medicine Unit - Rheumatic Diseases and Immunology). Provides the community with cadres capable of serving the patient as a whole by integrating with the special units when needed
