Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)


The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a multidisciplinary unit that provides care for infants, children and adolescents who become critically ill or injured. It provides diagnostic and treatment services for various critical pediatric diseases that need intensive care unit care, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation The many physicians, nurses and allied medical care professionals who work in the PICU have the knowledge, skills, and judgment to quickly assess and treat critically ill children to achieve the best outcomes possible.


Goals:


• The unit receives critical cases from inside or outside the hospital and provide care through her faculty members and nursing staff (mostly graduates College of Nursing), who are well trained to take care of these cases.
• Expanding the service of pediatric critical care in delta region and creating and empowering the scientific community of the specialty all over Egypt.
• Providing every child with the world class service that he/she deserves.
• Diagnosis and treatment of critically ill children.
• Communication with hospitals of the delta region for consultation and transferring critically ill children.
• Educational role for pediatricians, general practitioners, and parents to spot early features of critical illness in children.
• Training of pediatricians from all over the country in the field of pediatric critical care.
• Training of nurses all over the country in the field of pediatric critical care.
