Infection diseases and malnutrition diseases unit
Date of start activity of the unit: 1980
Location:
• Unit & research lab in 2nd floor in MUCH
• Department in 3rd floor in MUCH ( 12 beds )
• 2 OPC weekly
• 1 OPC of PHC
Objectives:
A- Medical service
1- Diagnosis & treatment of children with Infectious diseases as ( Bacterial – Mycobacterial – Viral – Fungal – Parasitic )
2- Diagnosis & treatment of children with pyrexia of unknown origin
3- Diagnosis & treatment of familial Mediterranean fever patients
4- Diagnosis & treatment of children with immune deficiency & its infection complications
5- Diagnosis & treatment of cases of Malnutrition as failure to thrive & Rickets
6- Participation in clinical nutrition for chronic patients with other specialities
7- Oral & IV Rehydration therapy for cases of Gastroenteritis
8- Supervising infection control in the hospital
9- Surveillance about communicable disease in the hospital including COVID19 among patients & workers
10- Participation with the bone marrow transplantation team

C- Research field
- Doing medical researches for postgraduate in cooperation with other specialties
D- Investigation department
( PCR – ELISA – BACTEC - Atomic absorption)
