Hematology and Oncology unit
The unit was established in 1977. Its founders are Prof. Al-Mahdi Al-Basousi and Prof. Youssef Al-Tanbari
The unit operates through the clinic and the internal section that contains 7 beds on the fourth floor of the Mansoura University Children's Hospital and 4 marrow transplant rooms on the second floor plus 40 beds in the Oncology Center the seventh floor, and 2 marrow transplant rooms in the Oncology Center the eleventh floor.
Services
The Unit of Hematology, Oncology, Marrow and Umbilical Cord Transplantation provides its services to patients of Dakahlia Governorate and the entire Delta region in the form of 4 outpatient clinics:
- Thalassemia and Transfusion Patients Clinic (Saturday; Monday)
- Coagulation factor Disease Clinic (Sunday)
- Anemia of chronic Disease and malnutrition Clinic (Wednesday)
- Receiving emergency cases throughout the week (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday)
Bone marrow transplantation, autologous or from a compatible donor.
Conducting laboratory analyzes for cases of various blood diseases, whether related to marrow transplantation or otherwise.
Separation of blood cells and its components.
Irradiation of blood components and its derivatives.
Sterilization of medical supplies with a cold sterilizer in the unit.
Training doctors and medical assistants on the stages of bone marrow transplantation and dealing with different transplant cases.
Follow-up of cases of chronic anemia, thalassemia and blood transfusion.
Follow-up cases of recurrent bleeding (hemophilia) and give the necessary treatment.
Giving prophylactic treatment to hemophilia.
Reservation of autologous stem cells or cells from the umbilical cord.
Treating cancer patients with chemotherapy.
Treatment of patients with bone marrow failure.

• Sterilization device (dry cold sterilization with plasma).
• Air sterilizer.

• A water bath to dissolve the frozen marrow bags.
•A bone marrow preservation machine
• Plasma freezing device (preserving frozen plasma).
• Welding machine for sterilizer bags.
• A welding machine near the blood.
