Cardiology unit

Goals

•To provide the highest level of health care for diagnosis, management, and follow up of congenital cardiac defects, and acquired cardiac diseases, including cardiac rhythm abnormalities in fetal life and pediatric age group.
•Ongoing Research in different fields of heart diseases in childhood
•Education programs for undergraduates, graduate students (master - doctorate)
•Training program for pediatric cardiology fellows (Egyptian Fellowship)

Services:

-Inpatient cardiology Ward: It is a twelve beds ward for admission and management of pediatric cardiac disorders
-Pediatric Cardiac intermediate care unit: Four beds and two incubators for managing patients needing intensive care peri-cardiac catheterization
-Outpatient cardiology Clinics: Twice per week pediatric cardiology clinics
-Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory:
•The Echo laboratory is offering detailed pediatric echocardiography for inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients as well as fetal echocardiography for referred pregnant females using suitable probes including curvilinear probes.
•The Echocardiography laboratory is equipped with the advanced echocardiographic machines supporting different echocardiographic modalities: doppler and color doppler, tissue doppler, two-dimensional speckle tracking, and three-dimensional echocardiography.
•Each echocardiographic machine supports the use of conventional probes, curvilinear probes for fetal echo, 3D echo probes, as well as transesophageal probe to examine the heart through the esophagus.

-Electrophysiology laboratory:
•The latest ECG devices
•Holter monitoring and recording for up to 7 continuous days
•Stress testing using treadmill
•Tilt table

-Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory:
•It was the first cardiac catheterization laboratory in Mansoura since 2002 which was upgraded in 2016
•It is biplane fluoroscopy-assisted catheterization laboratory allowing imaging for diagnosis and interventions
•Advanced diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization service is offered to pediatric patients such as:
 Balloon atrial Septostomy
 Balloon angioplasties
 Balloon valvuloplasties
 Stenting of PDA, COA stents, SVC stents, PAs stents.
 Devices closure for cardiac defects (ASD, VSD, PDA), closure of MAPCAs, Fistulas and AVM

•Electrophysiological studies (EPS) and ablation for rhythm disorders
•Hybrid suit capabilities for hybrid procedures in collaboration with cardiac surgical operations
•Dimensional rotational angiography for Structural and Congenital Heart Interventions in the Cath Lab
