The Poisoning Treatment Unit was established in 1993 at the Emergency Hospital – Mansoura University, to provide medical service for many populations in Dakahlia and neighboring Governorates. The Unit plays different role in providing awareness from dangers of toxic substance such as drugs, pesticides, addictive material, chemicals, toxic plants, and heavy metals for all categories of society, doctors, students, and public. In addition, treatment of acute intoxicated patients.

To help in diagnosis, there is a well-equipped toxicology laboratory that conducts analysis of the therapeutic drugs and drugs of abuse and pesticides.
