Academic activities

1-Daily case reports:

Every working day, a resident reports an interesting case to one or more of the faculty staff, in the presence of the residents and assistant lecturers; in order to enhance the analytic thinking through adopting the appropriate diagnostic approaches, construct a management plan for the case and improve the case presentation skills of the residents.

2-Afternoon lectures:

Daily online lectures presented by MD and master’s degree students and third year residents and supervised directly by faculty members of the different subspecialities. They take place in the afternoon and they are uploaded on the department’s drive.

3-Journal Club:

A weekly meeting in which post-graduate students present a critical appraisal of a certain published article, assisted by a professor of statistics. This meeting aims at improving the understanding of the medical research process, improving the academic writing and expanding the horizons of scientific thinking and research capabilities.

4-Weekly Grand Round (Conference):

A weekly meeting in which post-graduate students and third-year residents present an assigned challenging case. This meeting is attended by the whole department members, in addition to members of the radiology department, especially the neuroradiology unit, and members of other departments if needed according to the case. This is a traditional meeting that has been going on for decades, but the rich participation of other departments is a recent privilege that has given the Conference an enormous educational value.   

5-Mansoura Neurology Conference:

An annual scientific gathering of eminent neurological figures from all over Egypt in addition to special speakers from highly ranked universities and neurological centers abroad.
