The academic role of the department

  • The academic services provided by the department are an essential part of the center's mission as it participates in the educational process of medical students; In both the Regular Medical Program and the Manchester Program, with Urology courses
  • Our residency training program is superb; 4 candidates are accepted annually in our residency program from among the graduates of the Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University. Moreover, the Department of Urology accepts on average candidates from foreign universities for a full residency period (4 years). At the end of the residency program, successful residents are awarded a Master's degree in Urology.
  • The department also offers international clinical fellowships in collaboration with SIU to train international physicians who seek special expertise in specific urology subspecialties.
  • Our educational courses are internationally recognized. Educational courses are held regularly in the field of bladder cancer, laparoscopy, reconstructive urology, renal transplantation and pediatric urology. The most famous of these is the “International Course on Invasive Bladder Cancer and Urinary Diversion Techniques” which is held twice a year with participants from more than 25 countries. Our training courses include alternating live video surgeries with hands-on training on animal models under the supervision of experts in the field.
  • Since 2004 to date, 74 training courses in various fields of Nephrology and Urology have been held regularly at the University of North Carolina with a total of 1737 trainees from more than 50 countries
  • Residency training programmers are available for both Egyptian and foreign graduates. At the end of the programmed residency, which extends for 4 years, the successful candidate will be awarded a Master's degree in Urology or Nephrology.
  • In the past 12 years, more than 300 African trainees have received a short course in the fields of Nephrology and Urology.
