The Unit of Phoniatrics in the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat - Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, was established in September 1989 during the tenure of Prof. Dr. Mostafa El-Hashash - the former head of the Otolaryngology Department and founded by Prof. Dr. Tamer Abou-Elsaad - Professor and former head of the Phoniatrics unit with the purpose of providing health services of diagnosis and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders, the current headquarters of the unit in the outpatient clinics of the main hospital.
